The Sleeping Beauty Adult Performance Workshop 2026

with Guest Instructor Laurel Mangini

Experience the joy of bringing your classwork to the stage in this fun, supportive, and artistically challenging 6-week workshop! Under the guidance of professional dancer and instructor Laurel Mangini, participants will explore adapted choreography from the classical ballet The Sleeping Beauty.

All choreography will be tailored to be accessible for all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced dancers!

Workshop Overview

Join this unique performance-focused program designed for Adult students (18+) who want to deepen their technique, build confidence, and experience the excitement of presenting ballet on stage.

The workshop includes:

  • Six Technique classes

  • Six Rehearsals

  • Final performance on February 21, 2026 at Art House Productions black box theater

  • Video recording of the performance

  • Informal post-show reception

Costumes will be purchased separately; details to be provided.

Schedule

Technique Class & Rehearsal (Saturdays):

  • Open Level Class: Saturday 11:45 AM- 1:15PM ++

  • Rehearsal: 2:00– 5:00 pm

  • Class & Rehearsal Dates: January 17, 24, 31 | February 7, 14, 21

  • Performance Date: February 21, 2026.

++Everyone is encouraged to take Saturday class, Beginners may take Monday 7:30PM or Sunday 2:00PM in place of Saturday’s Advanced Beginner class

Registration &Tuition

The total fee of this workshop is $399.00 USD + Costume Cost

  • Deposit due upon registration: $199.50 USD

  • Final payment due February 1, 2026: $199.50 USD

 FAQs

  • This program is open to Adult students ages 18 and up. All experience levels are welcome—from absolute beginners to advanced dancers.

  • No prior performance experience is required! We do recommend dancers to have taken at least a few ballet classes previously, though it is not a requirement. The choreography from Sleeping Beauty will be adapted to be accessible for all levels.

  • Costumes are not included in the base workshop fee, and will be an additional cost. Further information will be provided upon the workshops commencement.

  • This is not a ticketed event. Donations of any amount are suggested. Guests must complete the RSVP form because seating is limited.

  • We ask that participants aim to be present for every rehearsal possible. If you must miss more than 2 rehearsals, we do not recommend signing up for this workshop. If you have other questions regarding scheduling, please email us at info@jerseycityballet.org.
