Studio Dress Code

We have a simple, easy-to-follow dress code. The appropriate uniform and footwear are required to participate in Jersey City Ballet classes. Questions about proper attire? Email admn@jerseycityballet.org

For Everyone

Long hair must be pinned back in a neat ponytail or bun.

Braids, extensions, and any other protective hairstyles must be pulled back or secured.

Bangs and Short hair should be neatly secured away from the face

Creative Ballet / Ballet Basics

FEMALE

Plain pink leotard with attached skirt

We recommend https://www.capezio.com/products/pinch-front-tank-dress-girls in pink or a similar style

Pink or flesh-tone ballet shoes - without drawstrings are preferred, like this: https://www.capezio.com/products/luna-ballet-shoe-child) or something similar

Ankle socks or bare legs preferred; tights optional

Please no wrap skirts, tiras, tutus, or costumes

MALE

Plain, fitted white t-shirt

Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights.

White Socks

Black, white, or flesh-tone ballet shoes like https://www.capezio.com/products/luna-ballet-shoe-child or something similar

Ballet Foundations / Ballet A, B, C / Pointe / Tap

FEMALE

Plain black leotard

Pink or same as skin tone footed tights / Pointe students should wear convertible tights

Pink or same as skin tone ballet shoes

Plain warm-up shorts and sweaters with no logos or patterns in pink or black are acceptable

Pink leather ballet shoes are required for performance

Plain black wrap demi skirt which can be worn in center for ages 10 and up

Shoes and tights should match

MALE

Plain, fitted white t-shirt

Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights.
