CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Primary Creative Ballet / Primary Pre-Ballet Class descriptions

These classes are for the independent dancer ages 3-4  and 5-7

Classes focus on introducing basic ballet vocabulary, and rhythmics, developing spatial awareness and classical music appreciation.

Pre- and Primary-level dance students progress when in the appropriate age group. Please follow the age guidelines.

NOTE: We are in a NEW and BIGGER room so we have more space to dance and learn new skills!

Mondays, 3:15-4:15, Ages 3-4 / age requirement - should be 3 on the first day of class

Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15, Ages 5-7 / age requirement - should be 5 on the first day of class

Instructor: Lorraine Mendoza under the direction of Jersey City Ballet, Judith Elins Palacio Director.

About The Instructor: Lorraine Mendoza is a dance coordinator, teacher, and choreographer. She graduated from Yolanda's Academy of Dance in 2014 and has most recently performed with Danceworks NYC. Since 2018, she has taught children of all ages ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary. She has choreographed pieces for Hudson Catholic, Rider University, Jersey City Ballet, Hudson Montessori and is looking forward to dancing with you! Lorraine has a masters in Business Communications and in addition to her dance career she is a marketing and social media freelancer.

Suggested Uniform:

Girls: Plain leotard / Tights optional / Ballet shoes /No crowns, tiaras, decorative headbands, tutus, or costumes. They are a distraction for the young dancer and restrict movement

Boys: Plain white T-Shirt / Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights / White socks / Ballet shoes

All students: Hair should be pulled back, bangs pinned back securely. For safety purposes ballet shoes are required, no socks or bare feet
